Sunday Service:
My Empathy is Out of Network
6/22/25 at 10:30am

The killing of a health care CEO has elicited a lot of surprising reactions from justice-oriented people. People who would normally decry murder seem to be justifying it in certain cases. Are there lessons to be drawn from this situation?

Speaker: Peter House

This will be a hybrid service, with the in-person portion being held in the sanctuary of First Universalist, and the virtual portion being held on Zoom.

Drop-In Discussion: The Happy Atheist

As with agnostics, western society has looked upon atheists and naturalists as discredited individuals who attempt to understand this world without invoking God or the gods. We'll review the different ways that four philosophers made their arguments for atheism without resorting to a religious foundation. But were they happy? Let’s discuss with Daniel Chadwick.

Drop-in Discussions meet via Zoom Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm.

July Social Justice Plate Offering: 490 Farmers

Our July Social Justice Plate Offering is designated for 490 Farmers.

490 Farmers seeks to learn alongside Rochester residents and youth to build community, hold land in common, and foster food sovereignty through urban agriculture. Guided by principles of mutual aid, they aim to steward a space where all feel welcome and integral to this mission, pushing our city toward a more resilient and equitable future.

The 490 Farm

Located at the corner of Broadway & Meigs St. across from the Baber AME Church (550 Meigs St., Rochester, NY, 14607), they are the first community garden on state owned land in New York, and the second largest in the city of Rochester (after Lexington Community Farm).

Please contribute as generously as you can to support this important work. For more info, visit their website 490farmers.org/.
