Bookstore & Library

The Clara Barton Library and Bookstore operates from September to June. Books may be bought or borrowed during coffee hour following each Sunday’s service.

The Library Committee will send in an order for the latest Unitarian Universalist meditation manuals in mid-December 2008, and they will be on sale in the Clara Barton lounge during coffee hour starting in January. We’ll also have additional copies of Mark Morrison-Reed’s In Between: Memoir of an Integration Baby.

If there are other books you think we should order, please let Phil Ebersole or a member of the Library Committee know. We can obtain any book listed in the Beacon Press, Skinner House and UUA Bookstore catalogs. These catalogs are available for examination on the library desk.

Mark’s book is among the newest additions to the Clara Barton Library. Other new books in the library are:

  • Amish Grace: How Forgiveness Transcended Tragedy, by Donald B. Kraybill, Steven M. Nost and David L. Weaver.
  • Radical Hospitality: Benedict’s Way of Love, by Father Daniel Homan OSB and Lonni Collins Pratt.
  • Seven Principles in Word and Worship, edited by Ellen Brandenburg.
  • Worship That Works: Theory and Practice for Unitarian Universalists, by Wayne Aronson and Kathleen Rowley.

We also have a few copies of Seven Principles in World and Worship and Worship That Works for sale.

Our bookstore and library get books from two sources: orders from the UUA Bookstore and donations from members. UUA Bookstore books are sold at our cost or slightly below; discounts can be as much as 40 percent. Donated books are sold for 50 or 25 cents, and donated magazines are free.

Books may be borrowed from our library for four weeks. All church members and all who have been attending long enough to have a name tag are eligible to borrow books from our library.
