The Rev. Sally Hamlin and our Membership Committee are hosting several events for those interested in learning more about Unitarian Universalism and First Universalist Church of Rochester. Visitors, new or old members are all welcome. If you have been attending for a while and want to know more about our Unitarian Universalism, our Historic Downtown Church, or becoming a member, please plan to attend these sessions! See you there!

Winter 2010 Orientation Series:

Rev. Sally and the Membership Committee will begin a new orientation series in February.  On February 7 and 21, we will show and discuss Voices of a Liberal Faith, a DVD which explores what it means to be a Unitarian Universalist.  This introductory session will begin at 11:45 and last for about an hour.

The orientation series continues with more in-depth discussions of various topics.  These informational classes are suggested for those who are interested in learning more.  They will begin at 11:45 and last for about an hour.

The schedule will be:
Unitarian Universalist History: March 14
Unitarian Universalist Theology: April 11
What it means to be a member at First Universalist: April 18
A tour of the building: May 16

If you decide that membership is for you, please plan to attend our Path to Membership class on May 22 from 9:00-1:00.  During our time together, we will explore where we each come from theologically.  We will discuss ways of giving service at First Universalist.  Rev. Sally will also talk about her expectation of new members.

Those choosing to become members will be welcomed at our New Member ceremony and service on Sunday, May 23.  Childcare will be available upon request.  If you would like participate in part or all of the series, or if you have any questions, please contact Rev. Sally at minister@uuroc.org or Nancy Gaede at 256-2611 or flower50@frontiernet.net.
